Parentodo

This policy describes how Parentodo (“we”, “the app”) handles information when you use the mobile application. Parentodo is directed at parents and caregivers, not children. School notices may incidentally mention children; we do not knowingly collect data directly from children.
1. Who the product is for
Parentodo helps parents turn shared family messages, photos, and PDFs into tasks, events, and reminders. Intended users are adults (parents / caregivers).
2. Information we collect
Launch waitlist (website)
If you join the waitlist on our marketing site, we store your email address solely to notify you when Parentodo is available on Google Play (or related beta invites). We do not sell waitlist emails or use them for unrelated marketing. You can request removal via the store/support contact.
Account (Google Sign-In)
Email, display name, profile photo URL, and Firebase Auth UID via Google Sign-In with minimal scopes. We do not read Gmail in the current MVP.
Content you provide
Tasks, events, reminders, timetable periods, holidays, notes; images/PDFs/shared text you import; source-message metadata for import/review.
Family sharing
Invited household members can see and edit the same shared family data.
Device / local
On-device database for offline use; local notification schedules; theme preference.
AI processing (Google Gemini)
Imported content is sent to our authenticated Cloud Function parseMedia, which calls Google Gemini with a server-side API key. Release builds do not embed a client Gemini key. By using AI import you consent to that processing for structured candidates you then review.
Diagnostics
In release builds, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics collect crash diagnostics and sparse product metrics (for example parse success, confirm save, reminder open). Events use enums and counts only — not message bodies, notice text, emails, or names of minors.
3. How we use information
To provide sign-in, sync, import, AI extraction, review, reminders, and family sharing; to maintain security; and to meet legal/store requirements including account deletion. We do not sell personal information or use notice content for advertising.
4. How we share information
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud (Auth, Firestore, Storage, Functions, Crashlytics, Analytics)
- Google Gemini via our Cloud Function when you use import/parse
- Family members you invite
5. WhatsApp and messaging apps
User-initiated share only. Parentodo does not use Accessibility services, notification listeners, or WhatsApp APIs to read chats in the background.
6. Retention

7. Account and data deletion
Settings → Delete account. Owners of multi-member families must transfer or dissolve first; members leave then delete. Deletion is immediate once the server operation succeeds.
8. Children’s privacy
Parentodo is for parents. We do not knowingly solicit data from children. Incidental mentions of children in notices you import are treated as household data under this policy.
9. Security
Firebase Authentication and security rules restrict access to signed-in users and family members for shared collections.
10. Changes & contact
We may update this policy. For privacy requests, use in-app account deletion or the support contact on the store listing. Canonical markdown: docs/legal/privacy_policy.md.
